The Public Works Department of Springdale is responsible for the storm system within the City. Springdale is one of seven communities within Hamilton County that has its own permit with the Ohio EPA to preserve and protect the environment. In accordance with the permit, the City has a total of six minimum control measures under the permit to aid in storm water clarity. They are;
In Springdale, there are separate sewer systems for both sanitary and storm sewers. Sanitary sewage is carried by pipes to treatment facilities that process waste before returning the water back to the rivers. Storm runoff is carried through pipes directly to creeks and rivers, thus the ever important reason to help improve water quality.
In 2006, the City updated its storm water ordinance to include new requirements of the latest permit. See Ordinance 68-2006 updating Section 95.03 of the Codified Ordinance.
